Non-French-speaking children

A child who doesn’t speak French must go to school just as every other child.

The school will orientate him/her in a class which matches his/her age and skills after an evaluation in the child’s mother tongue.

The child will be going to ordinary class for general knowledge education. He/she will also follow intensive French lessons at his/her school or in a special unit for Non-French speaking children (UPE2A). The child will be progressively integrated to the ordinary class depending on his/her progress in French, until he/she is able to fully follow the class.
